Members of the volunteer Anderson Teens Taking Action (ATTA) group help run Anderson's teen center, meeting to discuss issues and ideas on how to promote healthy living. Community Shasta County Public Health, the City of Anderson and the Anderson Partnership for Healthy Children worked together to open the new joint use community facility in 2007, which included APHCOs teen center and the Public Health DepartmentOs Southern Region Office. The co-location has allowed close collaboration with Public Health staff holding cooking classes for youth and using the teen center kitchen for healthy cooking demonstrations for other groups. Public Health provided a mini-grant to install mirrors and purchase mats for the teen centerOs dance studio, enhancing dance and exercise classes. The teen center promotes healthy eating by offering only water, juice and other natural snacks.
